| Rooted in the creed of "No environment, no business," the Mitsubishi Plastics Group promotes an energetic Platform targeting "the environment, safety and health," while redoubling its development of RC(responsible care) activities. |

Living in the "century of the environment," as the 21st century as come to be known, the call is for each one of us to nurture and maintain the consciousness of coexisting with the environment, and strive to create a sustainable social environment.
The Mitsubishi Plastics Group subscribes to the corporate motto that, "Without the environment, effective business management cannot exist." True to this philosophy, the Group upholds the tenets of "the environment, safety and health" throughout the complete lifecycles of all its products – namely, from the development stage through production, distribution, use and disposal. In March 2000, we issued the "RC Declaration," an autonomous management program distinguished by public disclosure of the results of these efforts to the society at large. This was accompanied by reviews of the "Basic Philosophy on Safety and the Environment," a statement originally formulated in 1993, with transformation of those guidelines into the "Environmental and Safety Policy."
At present, to achieve truly dependable environmentally based business management, efforts are underway to further bolster our RC activities through the all-embracing introduction and retention of safety and health programs. This consists of enhanced management practices in all sectors, aimed at ensuring the reliable output of eco-friendly craftsmanship, communication and social contributions, along with the perfecting of environmentally sound technology in each field of the Group´s endeavor. |

Certification under the ISO14001 environmental management system was completed at all Mitsubishi Plastics plants by the end of fiscal year 2000.
Following that success, we began the next quest to qualify under the OHSAS18001 safety and health management system, with all our plants fully attaining this status in the results of composite inspections conducted during FY2003.
Our domestic group production companies and affiliates promote the same types of campaigns, and have attained certification rates of 90 percent for ISO14001 and 62 percent for OHSAS18001. |

Sustained elimination of landfill dump waste MPI "Zero Emissions Activities" commenced in 1998, with the goal of eliminating all landfill dump waste discharged from our plants. This campaign generated major fruits in fiscal 2002, when we emerged as our industry's first company to totally eliminate landfill dump waste from all plants, a status we continue to enjoy at present as well. Collaboration with affiliates is also being beefed up, in a stance that yielded zero landfill site disposals across the entire Mitsubishi Plastics Group in fiscal 2005. This proud track record continues to be extended at present. |

To clarify the standards for products developed with the needs of the environment keenly in mind, MPI has established eco-friendly product standards. Particularly intent on purging environmental pollutants, we advance "green purchasing" of raw materials on the condition that there has been no blending or processing with Type 1 Designated Chemical Substances defined under the PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register) Law, which refers to 12 carcinogenic substances.
To furnish customers with easily understood information about our eco-friendly products, we have prepared ISO14021 Type II Self-Declaration Environmental Labels, for posting in our catalogs and website. |
